R.I.P. Cleocatra

Cleo, our little tortoiseshell cat, has passed away. She was born in the middle of October in 1992. We always thought of her birthday as being on "Sweetest Day" even though she could live up to a personalized sign she once had: "The Terrible Terrifying Tortie Cat".

In some ways she was a link to the past: she knew those who have been gone for a while now, both human and animal. Now that she is gone a chapter has been closed.

I got her to be a buffer between myself and my grandmother when I moved back to California and became my grandmother's caregiver. She was a good buffer. My grandmother would complain about her antics, yet take her side if I was upset with Cleo about something. It seems fitting that she would pass now, just as we have decided to put the house up for sale (hope, hope) in a couple of months and move to Utah to take charge of our lives rather than let events wash over us.

Rest in peace, Cleo, we love you.

  2. *hugs* So very sorry for your loss. Mickey and I will be thinking many good thoughts for Miss Cleo as she makes her way over the Bridge, and may your memories of her serve as comfort in the days ahead. You and the rest of the FF will be in thoughts and prayers.

Looking forward to hearing of this "Utah" when you feel up to writing about it.

  8. Very sorry to hear about your kitty. She lived a long life and I'm sure a good one with you. I hate that we outlive our animals, but I find it really is bittersweet. We can always keep our special memories of them alive.
