Grist to the Mill

In California, many state parks are due for closure. Here are some photos from Bale Grist Mill SHP, that is still open on weekends.

Blogger is not letting me caption as I would like: these two captions go with the last two pictures:

Poison oak is so lovely in the fall.

The DR shirt meets a chef sculpture at the VMarketplace 1870, a former useful historic building in Yountville, Napa Valley, CA converted into trendy shops.

Terms that have entered the lexicon from grain milling: "fair to middling", "go against the grain", "a millstone around one's neck", "nose to the grindstone", "run-of-the-mill".

(Remember you can click on the pictures to make them bigger and see writing and details better.)

  1. Cool photos. Looks like a neat place to visit. I hope this facility does not have to close altogether. I especially approve of the photo of the fashionably dressed gentleman in the Disapproving Rabbits T-shirt.
